Complete Guide of How to Apply for an Indonesian Passport Online!

This article is dedicated for those who want to apply for an Indonesian passport. Here's what you need to know…

1. Complete Your Documents Before You Go

Before you are heading to the nearest immigration office, make sure to complete your documents first, whether they are the original ones or the copies. These documents are crucial prior to your passport application:

  • A Valid Identity Card/E-KTP
  • Birth Certificate, Latest Education Certificate or Baptismal Certificate (choose one that contains your name, place of birth and parents names)
  • Family Card ( Kartu Keluarga )
  • Marriage Certificate (if married)
  • Certificate of Domicile (if you apply outside your domicile)
  • A stamp duty

2. Take Your Queue Number Online

For those of you passport applicants, do you know that by applying online for a new passport you will avoid such a pain at the immigration office? Please keep in mind that there is no more "walk-in queue" system, so that you have to reserve your queue number online.

Through Mobile App

You can now easily get your queue number through the government's official mobile app, t-mates 😉 Go to the PlayStore or AppStore and download the "Layanan Paspor Online." You can easily open the app and register yourself, fill in your personal data and then  fill in the passport queue application data, starting from the date, time, and the number of applicants.

Through Website

The alternative way to apply for Indonesian Passport online is to access https://antrian.imigrasi.go.id through your desktop or mobile phone. Register yourself, fill in your personal data and then choose your time and date!

3. Head to the Nearest Immigration Office

If you are all set and have applied everything online, then it's time for you to head to your nearest immigration office and don't forget to bring all of your original documents and the copies with you! Arrange all the required documents neatly in a folder.

Make sure to arrive at your appointment on the scheduled date and the correct time. We suggest that you arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment, to avoid any unwanted traffic.

4. Fill Out the Immigration Form

After your arrival, fill out your passport application form at the passport application counter. Make sure that you are filling it all with correct data. Take your time, be thorough and check it all over again!

It is better for you to bring your own stationary, especially a black-ink pen. Usually the immigration office gets you all covered, but it is limited compared to the applicants. So, rather than taking turns, why not bring your own? If you are all done, then hand over the form to the immigration officer.

5. A Little Interview, Photos and Fingerprints

After filling out the form, you will be asked to do a basic interview, record your fingerprints, and do a photo session for your passport. Don't worry the interview is nothing, it's basically just a little bit of a chill Q&A session.

The most frequently asked questions during the interview is related to your purpose of making your passport, or why you are travelling abroad. So, you better answer honestly as this will determine whether you are good to go or not.

After a little chit-chat, you will be asked to record your fingerprints and a photo session. So, make sure you wear a neat and polite outfit 😉

6. Proceed to Payment Process and Confirmation

If the immigration officer gives you a permission for a new passport, then you are good to go! You will be given a payment slip, so that you can transfer the administrative fee later from your account. The fee itself depends on what kind of passport you will make, you will be charged 350,000 IDR for a classic/traditional passport, and 650,000 IDR for an electronic passport/e-passport.

We recommend you to choose the e-passport instead of the ordinary one, as it will be more secured. The chip inside of the e-passport contains a more complex biometric data and facial scans.

7. Collect Your Passport

When your passport is ready, then it's time for you to go back to the immigration office. Usually, it takes three business days until the process is complete. Make sure to bring out your proof of payment. Take a queue number and wait until it's your time to collect your passport.

Now, You are Good to Go, t-mates!

See? It is such an easy way to make an Indonesian passport nowadays! We have proven to you that it is not as daunting as what they told you 😉 Now, if you have your passport in hand, where do you want to go? Well, wherever you are going, make sure that you choose tiket.com as your travel buddy!
